Suppose you are selling three different colour soccer balls: one green, one blue and one red. The names of these items are accordingly "red soccer ball", "blue soccer ball" and "green soccer ball"

Think according to which criteria you would like to sort your soccer balls. In our example, it makes sense to sort them by colour.

Setup 3 folders in the following way:

Before new categories and folders are setup, you should be certain, that in the lower area of the page, there is a check mark next to "setup simple sort rules". Click on "home" in order to mark the file in which you would like to put the new categories. Enter the name of the new category when you see "setup new file". For our example, type "red".


Items are only sorted into categories when an associated sort rule is setup in Rules. This occurs here automatically. A simple sort rule in Rules is setup and immediately looks for any items that have the word "red". In this case, rule sends the article to the appropriate category. Should you set up the category with the name "red soccer balls", you also have to specify in the rule that all items which contain the letters "red" will be sorted into this category.

Add now underneath the home folder the missing categories "green" and "blue".

For our example here you can also name the home folder "soccer balls". This folder is merely for visual presentation and for simplifying the category structure. Its name does not influence any of the functions.

In the left area of the page (the category tree) you will now see a branch structure (enlarge) which has three entries: "green", "blue" and red. Choose now preview in the upper page menu in order to have a preview of how your gallery will look. As long as you have installed any navigational module in your gallery, the three categories will be actively shown. In each category the corresponding soccer ball will be found.
